Milton Keynes Community Foundation

Since the early days DSP have been keen to support local charities in and around Milton Keynes and as a member of the Milton Keynes Community Foundation since the early part of 2000, we have consistently been involved in supporting a huge variety of projects. Andrea has also been a member of the marketing & fundraising committee for the last 3 years and has just been made a trustee.

The Community Foundation, based just across the road from us in Acorn House, has awarded grants of £425,000 in the last financial year. It has supported over 100 organisations in the last 12 months, benefiting a wide range of people including those with disabilities, children and youth, older people and the disadvantaged, as well as projects that develop the artistic and cultural life of the city.

A real enthusiast for the organisation, Andrea says “it's a real delight to play even a small part in helping such a professional Foundation and an even greater delight to see the impact of their grant making benefit such a wide range of people”

City Breakfast Club

Milton Keynes is known throughout the UK for having an unbelievably large number of networking forums. In fact it's widely accepted locally that you could be attending a networking function for breakfast, lunch and dinner nearly every day of the month!

The City Breakfast Club is one of the oldest such forums having been started in 1989 by Chris Reed of Reed and Co. It still fulfils that monthly function today, offering a relaxed setting to enjoy a great start to the day, combined with either a quiz or a speaker. The only difference is the location, as we've had to move to bigger premises at the Novotel to cater for the increase in numbers.

DSP have been firm supporters of the Club, becoming sponsors from Day One in June 2000 and bringing along an average of 10-15 guests each month to join the fray.

Recent speakers have included Pete Winkleman of Wimbledon Football Club fame, and Ann Allen of Leon School who have just won funding to give them special sports status.

Midsummer Breakfast Club

In case there weren't enough breakfast events going on, DSP co-founded this Club in 2000 along with several other local businesses including United Business Centres, Baker Tilly, Shoosmiths and Barclays Bank.

Once again the setting is quite informal in All Bar One, catering for about 100 attendees and a speaker each month. This Club provides plenty of opportunity to get to know other local business people and build up your network of contacts.

Recent speakers have included one of Britain 's most versatile and dynamic conductors, Hilary Davan Wetton. He is the ever enthusiastic Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for the Milton Keynes City Orchestra.
